All Delamaters & Delamarters appear to be related to Glaude Le Maistre and his prolific family. He landed in Brooklyn in 1652, fought in the Esopus Indian wars, and helped settle Harlem. He worked as justice for Pieter Stuyvesant

Would like to find information on my 6th G. Grandfather's
Family. He was Claude or Glaude Lemaistre born about 1613
in Richebourg area of france. Possibly in Leytam. Father
was Guillaume Lemaistre, a Huguenot. Claude was 1st
married in the friends Chapel of the Canterbury Cathedral
in Canterbury, England to Louise Quennel. His father
signed the Marriage Contract and Louise's mother Marguerite
Lemaistre, Widow of Antoine Quennel, also signed it. Would
like info further back in france.

Another possible and 1st spouse for Claude Delamater is
    Mary ... surname unknown.
marriage presumably in 1630 Canterbury, Kent, England
    Children:
    Marie
    Pierre
    Claude

however, there is a second Claude Delamater/de maistre in that time period and in the same location who may have been her husband and nothing has been found to link this woman to our Claude.

Ask any Genealogist who has done painstaking work & you will find our Claude was married only 3 times. I have the entire "Friends or Walloon Church" on Microfilm. There was another Claude in the records, who did NOT correspond with our Claude, could have been a cousin. His Father signed the Marriage Contract as Guillaume, NOT Pierre Guillaume. He & Louise had 3 Children at Canterbury, all died young. They had one more bptd at Middleburg. I looked all through those Church Records but never found a death for him. He married Jeanne DeLannoy in the same Church. I had the entire Records of the Middleburg Church also, but I didn't put them on Indefinite like The Canterbury Records, which I can look at any time. I also ordered the Dutch Reformed Church in Amsterdam many years ago to look at the Marriage Record of Claude & Hester for myself. You can order these & Dutch Church Records from N.Y. through LDS Family History Centers. I've been doing this for years. The one here is only 2 miles from me. Darlene T. Holling
